Erickson Elementary Kindergarten
About Our Class
Our class consists of 11 boys and 7 girls for a total of 22 super students! Students take part in music, gym, computer. The Grade 6's are our Buddy Readers and we enjoy having them read to us on Day 6. On Day 2 we pair up with our Grade 4 Computer Buddies and spend time in the computer lab playing educational games. Kindergarten is on Days 2, 4 and 6 of the school day cycle and it is a full day. Class begins at 8:55 am and ends at 3:20 pm.
Our mornings are filled with fun alphabet activities, songs and stories. We do one alphabet letter a week and we write in our journals once a week. We have many different themes that center around Social Studies, Health and Science.
In the afternoons we do sharing, math activities and the children participate in center time. This is a time where they can explore various centers (math, dramatic play, storywriting, sand table, crafts) at their own pace while developing social skills as they interact with their classmates. During this time small groups work with the teacher on skills that need to be strengthened.
We are always busy learning about something new and exciting!
