The RIC' s of Manitoba
Greetings Gentlemen,
I would like to take this opportunity to reach out to each of you and ask you for a little of your time.
I would like to explain an Officials Camp that we have brought to our Province and ask if you are willing, at the end of reading this, if you would be so kind and forward it onto your members in your district.
Last year was our first year in Manitoba for the OSO, (Okanagan School of Officiating) though has been in operation for 5 seasons. We had originally held this Officiating Camp in Penticton BC. As an educational company though, we decided that we wanted to offer officials of any age and ability an opportunity to learn this fantastic skill set. Therefore we decided we needed to move and make the camp more accessible to the officials of MB.
Our camp is run in conjunction with the AAA River City tournament. The entire camp is held at the MTS IcePlex, and the camp is a four day full camp. There are:
*Nutrition Seminars
*Fitness Testing and Training
*Rule Book and Group work sessions
*Comportment and Communication Sessions
*Daily Power Skating Sessions
*On ice games and Evaluations with Feedback from NHLOA Staff
*A Top Twelve Tournament Officals Challenge
*Daily Quizzes
*Final Exams
*Exit Interviews from NHLOA Staff
*Certification of Completion
There are over 200 manned games that our Officials will get an opportunity to work and be instructed in. We are extremely proud of the fact that our Instructors are All Manitoba born and raised Officials.
This camp will be a benefit to all who attend. Its imperative that we reach out to you, the leaders of this group within the Hockey Manitoba officiating program and ask you for your support as we continue to grow and offer these young officials an opportunity to gain confidence in their ability through positive reinforcement of the lessons they learn throughout the
winter.
