Welcome to our Kindergarten Class!
 2011-2012
Kindergarten is on Days 2, 4 and 6 of the school day cycle. Classes begin at 8:55 and end at 3:40. We have music on days 2 and 4 while gym classes are held on days 4 and 6. We pair up with the older grades for reading and computer buddies on our library day, which is day 6.
Our class learns Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science and Health within interesting themes to engage meaningful learning. We enjoy hands on experience during center time to enhance the desired outcomes. Children work at their own pace and the teacher observes and interacts to help strengthen the desired skills.
During Language Arts, we introduce a new letter each week. We use Phonemic Awareness, Morning Messages, Charts, Poems, Songs, Story books , Journals, Alphabet Hunts, Puppets and Arts and Crafts.
Some Math Strategies we use are: Calendar, Math Tubs, Blocks, Sand or Water Tables, Cooking, Science Experiments, Games, Journals and Math Stories.
We will have a self-portrait board where children can see their improvement in printing and drawing throughout the year. (This will also be a great keepsake to take home at the end of the year!)
